What to do before the cleaners arrive

Most people need to do less before a cleaning visit than they think. We're coming to clean, so spending the night doing our job first doesn't help much. A little preparation can make the visit more useful, and a few things are easier to settle before the first appointment.

Clear the surfaces, leave the rest

Time spent picking up clothes, toys or mail is time the team can't spend cleaning the surface underneath.

If you only prepare one thing, make the flat surfaces easy to reach. Clear the counters, dining table and floors. Things can go back where they belong, into a basket, or into a pile in a room we're leaving alone that day. The house doesn't have to look tidy before we arrive. We just need access to the surfaces we're there to clean.

Everything else can stay exactly where it is. We're not going to reorganize your shelves or decide what goes in a drawer. Dishes in the sink, beds unmade, laundry going, all fine.

Settle access at the estimate

There isn't one access arrangement that works for everyone. Some customers stay home during the visit. Others give us a key, lockbox code, garage code or gate code and return after the cleaning is finished.

Work out whichever arrangement fits your home during the free estimate. That keeps the first morning simple. It's also the right time to mention things such as a coded gate, a staffed entrance or a door that tends to stick.

Tell us about your pets

Pets are part of plenty of the homes we clean, and there isn't one rule that makes sense for all of them. We decide with you at the estimate what works for your pet during the visit.

A dog may be more comfortable staying in a bedroom while unfamiliar people are moving around the house. A cat may spend the whole visit watching from the couch. What matters is that you tell us what to expect, especially if a pet is likely to head for an open door.

Say what matters most to you

People often forget this part, even though it can change where the team's time goes.

Tell us when one room matters more to you than another. The master bathroom may be the priority. A guest room that hasn't been used since March may not need attention that day. If someone in the house is sensitive to a smell, mention it before the visit starts.

You can tell us at the estimate or before any individual visit. It costs nothing and it's the difference between a house that's clean and a house that feels clean to you.

What we bring

All of it. Every product and every piece of equipment comes with us, on every visit. You don't need to leave anything out or keep anything stocked.

How long it takes

A recurring visit in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home usually runs 2 to 3 hours.

That time can move around within the range. The size of the house matters, along with what has happened in it since the previous visit. The same home can take longer after a busy weekend with guests than it does after a quiet week.

After we leave

Walk through it when you get a chance. If something isn't right, tell us within 72 hours and we'll come back and touch it up at no charge.

Use that promise when you need it. If we missed the top of the fridge, we'd rather hear about it after the visit than learn several visits later that it has been bothering you.
