Moving out, and getting the place clean behind you

Moving puts the house in front of someone who hasn't been living with it every day, so small things tend to stand out more. A move-out clean has a specific scope, and timing it around the move matters as much as the checklist.

Book it for after the truck leaves

Cleaning is easier when the house is empty. Boxes and furniture turn open floors and surfaces into obstacles.

When the schedule allows it, book the clean after the furniture and boxes have left. That gives us access to the floor instead of making us work around whatever is still standing on it. If the timing doesn't work that way, we can still clean a furnished home and adjust the checklist accordingly.

What it covers

A move-out clean starts with the deep-clean scope and adds the work that matters when the home is being handed over.

Everything from the deep clean is in it: chandeliers, fan blades, AC vents, cobwebs, window sills and ledges, doors and door frames, baseboards, blinds and shutters. Kitchen appliances inside and outside. Showers, tubs, tile walls, mirrors and toilets. Floors vacuumed and damp mopped. Sliding door tracks and inside glass. The front door and entry. In a two-story home, the stairs, handrails and banisters.

The move-out service also includes:

  • The fridge, fully. Shelves and drawers out, washed, wiped and put back. On a move-out clean that's included rather than an add-on.
  • Inside cabinets and drawers, in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry, when the house is empty.

In a furnished home we dust the furniture and vacuum the chairs and couches instead, since the cabinets are still full.

What isn't in it

The garage and the lanai aren't part of a standard clean. Both are worth adding on a move-out, because they're exactly the spaces that get ignored for years and then looked at on the way out. Garage sweeping is $30 to $100 and lanai or porch sweeping is the same.

There are two more floor services to consider while the house is empty, when nothing is in the way:

  • Grout cleaning, $50 to $75 per room
  • Carpet washing, $50 to $75 per room

We don't do post-construction cleaning. If the place has had work done and there's construction dust through it, that's a different job and we'd tell you so rather than take it on.

What it costs

A move-out clean starts at $500, and a move-in clean is the same price. Empty or furnished doesn't change the number either. Bigger homes run above that, and your price is set at a free in-home estimate rather than over the phone.

Add-ons come on top. We take cash, check, Zelle and major credit cards.

If you're moving in

Same service, same price, and worth doing before your things arrive rather than after. An empty house is the only chance you get at the inside of every cabinet and drawer before they're full of your own plates.

If you're buying the home, the previous cleaning reflects the previous owner's standard. Starting with your own clean gives you a baseline from the first day.

A note about timing

Ask earlier than feels necessary. A move-out clean is the appointment that gets squeezed when a closing date shifts, and the estimate is the slow part rather than the clean itself. We usually come out within 24 to 48 hours of you asking, so sorting the price early costs you nothing while your dates are still moving around.

Questions

What does a move-in or move-out clean include?
Everything in a deep clean, plus a full clean of the fridge, inside and out. In an empty home we also clean the inside of cabinets and drawers in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry.
Do you clean an empty house or one with furniture?
Both. The checklist changes a little: in an empty home we clean inside cabinets and drawers, and in a furnished home we dust furniture and vacuum chairs and couches.
What's not included?
The garage and the lanai aren't part of a standard visit. You can add garage sweeping or lanai sweeping, or book our lanai and sliding glass door package.
Do you do post-construction cleaning?
No. We don't offer post-construction cleaning.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, check, Zelle and major credit cards.
